Upon his arrest in Warri, the police wrote a statement and compelled him to sigh before he was taken to the DPO.

With much pleading the Dpo resolved that the young man should pay the sum of 50,000.

The police was clever enough to handle the transaction outside the police station a police officer who claimed to be acting for the DPO, Vincent collected the fifty thousand naira. from a relative of the suspect Mr. Ovie, his GSM: 0703 557 0467, he headed the money to the police officer to secure the bail of Francis Akpovofene.

This was one among numerous extortion by police men in Delta State.

Human Rights does not Supports internet fraudstars and it's related nefarious activities, However, the police is more guilty for converting what ever they term as crime into money making venture.

So much unprofessionalism and misconduct by some officers' despite huge funding from the Delta state government.

The police men are so clever that their extortion tactics are coded that they negotiate bail on mufty, they even go outside the police station, assign the matter to other police officer for obscurity of their identities.

They ban entry into the police station with
Mobile phones for fear that they will be recorded.

The Dpo of Ebrumede Police Station, should do well to refund the extorted sum back to Francis Akpovofene or the Mr Ovie who paid the money, to avoid stiffer measures.

Civil society groups will consider a petition to relevant police disiplary body If the DPO consider it inconsiqential to eat the proceeds of extortion.

We advise the police to read the Police Act, 2020,  Part VII, section 3
