Human Rights Community Celebrates Chief (Dr.) Wellington O. Okirika, CON, 'Mr. 13% Derivation Fund,' on His BirthdayThe Human Rights Community of the

 Niger Delta has extended heartfelt birthday felicitations to renowned Niger Delta leader, elder statesman and resource control advocate, Chief (Dr.) Wellington O. Okirika, CON, fondly known as "Mr. 13% Derivation Fund," in recognition of his lifelong commitment to justice, equity and the advancement of oil-producing communities in Nigeria.

In a goodwill message signed by Comrade Steven Luke, the Human Rights Community described Chief Okirika as a courageous patriot, fearless advocate and one of the foremost champions of the struggle for resource control, environmental justice and the constitutional rights of host communities in the Niger Delta.
According to the statement, Chief Okirika's unwavering dedication to the cause of the Niger Delta has inspired generations of activists and community leaders. His role in advocating for the constitutional recognition of the 13% Derivation Fund remains one of his most enduring legacies in Nigeria's democratic journey.

"Today, we celebrate not only your birthday but also your remarkable contributions to justice, peace, human rights and the development of the Niger Delta. Your courage in speaking truth to power and defending the rights of marginalized communities has earned you the respect and admiration of people across the country," the statement read.

The Human Rights Community noted that Chief Okirika has remained steadfast in promoting national unity, peaceful dialogue and sustainable development while consistently advocating for transparency, accountability and the equitable distribution of resources generated from the Niger Delta.

The group prayed for God's continued protection, good health, wisdom and strength upon the elder statesman, expressing confidence that his wealth of experience and leadership would continue to guide the struggle for justice and sustainable development in the region.

"As you mark another year of God's faithfulness, we wish you many more years filled with sound health, divine grace, peace and fulfilment. May your voice continue to inspire hope, courage and justice for generations to come."
