Chief Oghenekome Okpobor Did Not Welcome Any NDC Members in Iyede, but Rather Welcomed His Maternal and Paternal Family Members In Iyede.

The Convener of No Jobman for Governor 2023, Comrade Steven Luke, has criticized the Executive Director of Finance of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Oghenekome Okpobor, over claims that he has won the hearts of members and supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Delta State.
Comrade Steven Luke alleged that the people featured in the photographs taken during Okpobor’s visit to Iyede community were his family members, relatives, friends, and other community members, rather than NDC members who had defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking after travelling from Warri to Iyede community in Isoko North Local Government Area, Comrade Steven Luke maintained that the photographs should not be presented as evidence that NDC members had abandoned their party to support the APC.

According to him, the people who welcomed Chief Okpobor were community members and relatives who came out to receive him because of his position as the Executive Director of Finance of DESOPADEC and the expectations they might have had regarding benefits from his visit.

Comrade Steven Luke further argued that genuine NDC supporters would not abandon their political convictions merely to attend a meeting at night. He insisted that the party’s supporters remained committed to their political aspirations and believed that a better Nigeria was possible under the leadership of Peter Obi and Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

He added that the NDC’s vision was to build a country where children from poor backgrounds would have opportunities to rise to positions of leadership and achieve their dreams, regardless of their family circumstances.

Comrade Steven Luke therefore called on Chief Oghenekome Okpobor to stop misleading the public and presenting ordinary family members, friends, and community well-wishers as NDC supporters who had switched allegiance to the APC.

He challenged the DESOPADEC executive to focus on demonstrating his achievements and contributions to the development of Iyede community rather than making claims about political support that, according to him, had not been independently established.
