COMRADE STEVEN LUKE CHALLENGES PROF. CHRIS AKPOTU: ACCOUNT FOR FUNDS RECEIVED FROM IMPEACHED IDU YOUTH WING PRESIDENT JOEL IFOGHALE EMENI
The Spokesperson of the Human and Peoples’ Rights Advocate of Niger Delta, Comrade Steven Luke, has strongly challenged Prof. Chris Akpotu, President-General of the Isoko Development Union (IDU), to come forward and explain to the good people of Isoko Nation the funds allegedly received by him and his executive members from the impeached IDU Youth Wing President, Comrade Joel Ifoghale Emeni, who was removed from office a few weeks ago.
Comrade Steven Luke, who was present in Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area, to witness the inauguration of the new Isoko Development Union (IDU) Youth Wing President, Dr. Comrade Unuafe Sunday Edewor, stated that the IDU leadership must understand that the people of Isoko Nation are neither blind nor illiterate.
He questioned the leadership of the Isoko Development Union (IDU), including its executives and Board of Trustees (BOT), over allegations concerning funds reportedly received from the impeached IDU Youth Wing President, Comrade Joel Ifoghale Emeni.
Comrade Steven Luke also launched a strong verbal attack on the impeached IDU Youth Wing President, Comrade Joel Ifoghale Emeni, describing him as a bully who allegedly intimidates people under his authority. He referred to allegations that Emeni assaulted a female subordinate after she demanded payment of her salary connected to an empowerment programme. Luke called for a thorough investigation into the allegation, insisting that nobody should be allowed to abuse a position of authority or mistreat another person without facing the appropriate consequences if found guilty.
Comrade Steven Luke has described the leadership of the Isoko Development Union (IDU) as lacking accountability, accusing it of shielding Joel Ifoghale Emeni, who has been accused of misappropriating millions of naira in funds allegedly meant to support the union’s operations, activities, and other responsibilities entrusted to its elected leadership.
Comrade Steven called on the IDU leadership to address these allegations transparently and explain how the funds were managed, insisting that the Isoko people deserve accountability and transparency from those elected to serve them.
