DESOPADEC Board Members should give Deltans a full account and stewardship of their three years in office

The Organisation for Human and Peoples Rights Protection and Humanitarian has raised serious concerns over the activities of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, insisting that DESOPADEC board members should give Deltans a full account and stewardship of their three years in office. According to the group, the people deserve transparency, accountability, and detailed explanations on how the 13% derivation funds were utilized across oil-producing communities in Delta State.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the group’s spokesperson, Steven Luke, said Deltans want to see visible projects, youth empowerment programmes, quality healthcare services, road infrastructure, educational development, and meaningful impacts in the various communities under the commission’s responsibility. He noted that it is important for the board to publicly present its achievements, challenges, and financial records for proper public assessment.

The group further stressed that accountability remains a key part of good governance, adding that the people of Delta State deserve to know whether the objectives of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission have truly been achieved during the board’s tenure.
