Can the children of the Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, and Hon. Ferguson Onwo, the member representing Isoko South Constituency II, be admitted to Olomoro General Hospital in its current condition?"
The Convener of No Jobman for Governor 2023 and spokesperson of the Organization for Human and Peoples' Rights Protection, Comrade Steven Luke, has strongly criticized the Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, and the member representing Isoko South Constituency II, Hon. Ferguson Onwo, over what he described as the neglect of the Olomoro General Hospital in Isoko South Local Government Area.
According to Comrade Steven Luke, it is unacceptable that a government hospital serving the people of Isoko South still operates without an ambulance. He said he was deeply saddened after visiting the hospital and witnessing its poor condition firsthand.
He lamented that the hospital's beds and other medical equipment are outdated and inadequate, describing the situation as a clear sign of government neglect. He questioned why Isoko South communities should continue to suffer such poor healthcare despite having Hon. Ferguson Onwo as its representative in government.
"What kind of representation is this," he asked, "when the standard of healthcare in his own community has remained in such a deplorable condition?"
Comrade Steven Luke further alleged that the Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, has turned a deaf ear to the plight of the hospital. He recalled that when the commissioner visited the Olomoro General Hospital a few months ago, residents were hopeful that the visit would lead to significant improvements. However, according to him, nothing has changed since then.
He added that people's of various communities in Isoko have repeatedly raised concerns through various public appeals and social media posts about the deteriorating condition of the hospital, but those concerns have allegedly been ignored.
Comrade Steven Luke called on the Delta State Government, the Ministry of Health, and Hon. Ferguson Onwo to urgently intervene by providing modern medical equipment, renovating the hospital, and ensuring that an ambulance is made available to improve healthcare delivery for the people of Olomoro and surrounding communities.
