8 Years As A House Of Assembly Member, Almost 4 Years As Commissioner Of Works, And Now In Okere Prison. What A Marvelous God We Serve.

The Convener of “No Jobman for Governor 2023,” Comrade Steven Luke, has expressed his reaction to the remand of Hon. (Comrade) Izeze Rume Yakubu Ruben, a two-time member of the Delta State House of Assembly representing Ughelli South Constituency, who has been remanded at the Warri Correctional Centre pending trial.

Speaking with newsmen in Warri South Local Government Area, Comrade Steven Luke said the suspended Commissioner for Works may not have anticipated that the outcome of his actions during the APC Delta Central meeting held at the PTI Conference Centre would eventually lead to his being remanded in custody.

According to Comrade Steven Luke, the development should serve as a lesson to those holding government positions that power and political appointments are not permanent.

“Other government appointees should learn from the experience of the suspended Commissioner for Works, Hon. (Comrade) Izeze Rume Yakubu Ruben. Position and power are not permanent. If someone had told me that a Commissioner for Works would one day be in custody, awaiting trial before a competent court determines his guilt or innocence, I probably would not have believed it. But I was present in court when he was ordered to be remanded for two weeks,” he said.

Comrade Steven Luke further stated that the development should encourage public office holders to exercise restraint, respect the law and remember that their actions and decisions can have consequences.

He emphasized that no individual, regardless of position or influence, should consider himself above the law, adding that the rule of law must be respected at all times.

He concluded by urging political appointees and public servants to learn from the situation and conduct themselves responsibly while in office.
