OHPRPH Demands Immediate Suspension and Arrest of Commissioner for Secondary Education Over The Death of Deputy Director, Ministry of Education


The Organization for Human and Peoples’ Rights Protection (OHPRPH), through its Assistant Secretary, Comrade Steven Luke, has condemned the death of the Deputy Director of the Delta State Ministry of Education, Mr. Unity Adade, and called for an immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Comrade Steven Luke, who spoke with journalists in Asaba, called on the Nigeria Police Force to urgently investigate the incident and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.

According to Comrade Luke, reports alleging that Mr. Adade was assaulted by individuals said to be loyal to the Commissioner for Education in Delta State are deeply disturbing and should not be ignored. He stressed that no government official or individual should be above the law.

We cannot fold our arms and remain silent in the face of such a serious allegation. If the reports are established to be true, those responsible must face the full weight of the law. We are not in a banana republic where people can take the law into their own hands, Comrade Luke said.

He described the late deputy director as a dedicated civil servant who had contributed significantly to the Delta State Ministry of Education and expressed condolences to his family, colleagues and loved ones.

Comrade Luke further called on the relevant authorities to conduct a transparent and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Adade’s death, stressing that justice must be served regardless of the status or position of anyone involved.

He maintained that allowing such allegations to go without a proper investigation could undermine public confidence in the rule of law and create room for similar incidents in the future.

Pedro, over the construction of classrooms and fencing at Okpolo Enwhe Primary School in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.
